FAQ’s

Can you bring a bag into HYROX?

Yes — HYROX events have a bag drop area for athletes where you can bring one bag no larger than cabin size before your race. Everything must fit inside, be securely closed, and liquids sealed. You won’t be able to access this bag once it’s dropped until after your race.

What gets you disqualified from HYROX?

Disqualification or penalties at HYROX can occur for a few reasons in line with the official rulebook:

  • Outside assistance: Receiving food, drink or equipment from anyone other than official aid stations mid‑race.
  • Poor sportsmanship: Threatening, abusive or deceptive behaviour towards staff, judges, volunteers, spectators or other athletes.
  • Breaking conduct rules: Actions like spitting excessively on the course, littering, or clearing nostrils onto the floor can lead to penalties or disqualification.
  • Prohibited items: Using items not allowed by the HYROX rulebook (e.g. headphones, cell phones on the course) may result in disqualification.

Always check the specific event’s rulebook before race day for the most up‑to‑date details.

Can I drink coffee before HYROX?

Yes — you can have coffee before a HYROX race if it’s part of your normal routine and you’ve practised it in training. Caffeine (from coffee or other sources) is often used to enhance focus and reduce perceived effort when timed well before the start, but it’s not required by HYROX rules.

The key is to stick with what you’ve tested in training so your gut and energy system are familiar with it on race day.
