How to Get to HYROX Cape Town

By Plane
✈️ Nearest Airport: Cape Town International Airport (CPT) is the main airport serving Cape Town and it’s pretty close to the CTICC, about 20 km (12 miles) away.
Getting to the Venue
- Taxi/Rideshare: You can easily grab a taxi at the airport or use ride-sharing apps like Uber or Bolt. This is a common way to get to the CTICC. The drive usually takes about 20-30 minutes, but traffic in Cape Town can sometimes be a bit slow, especially during busy times. Make sure you agree on the fare with the taxi driver beforehand or check the app for rideshares.
- MyCiTi Bus: The MyCiTi bus is Cape Town’s public bus system and it has a direct route (Airport-City route) from the airport to the Civic Centre station, which is within walking distance (about 10-15 minutes) of the CTICC. This is a more affordable option. You’ll need to buy a MyCiTi card to use the bus. You can find more information about the routes and fares on the MyCiTi website.
By Train
🚆 Nearest Train Station: Cape Town Central Station is the main train station in the city. It’s located in the city centre and is within walking distance (about 15-20 minutes) or a short taxi/MyCiTi bus ride to the CTICC. You can get trains to Cape Town Central Station from other parts of South Africa. You can find train schedules on the Cttrains website.
By Bus
🚌 MyCiTi Bus: Like we mentioned, the MyCiTi bus is a great way to get around Cape Town. There are many routes that stop near the CTICC. You can plan your journey on the MyCiTi website.
By Car
🚗 Navigation: Just type “CTICC, Convention Square, 1 Lower Long Street, Cape Town” into Google Maps, Waze, or Apple Maps.

🚙 Parking: The CTICC has underground parking available, but it can get busy during big events. There are also other parking garages in the city centre nearby. Arriving early is always a good idea if you’re driving. You can find parking information on the CTICC website.

Travel Tips
✔️ Check traffic: Traffic in Cape Town, especially during peak hours, can be a bit heavy. Use a navigation app to check conditions before you leave.
✔️ Arrive early: Give yourself plenty of time (at least 1-2 hours) to travel to the CTICC, find your way around (it’s a big place!), check in, and warm up.
✔️ Stay nearby: Staying in the city centre or near the V&A Waterfront will make getting to the CTICC really easy.
✔️ MyCiTi Card: If you plan to use the MyCiTi bus a lot, get a MyCiTi card. It’s a reusable card that makes paying for the bus much simpler.
✔️ Cash & Cards: Most places in Cape Town accept credit and debit cards, but it’s always a good idea to have some South African Rand (ZAR) cash on hand for smaller purchases, tips, or in case a vendor doesn’t take cards.
✔️ Safety: Be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded areas. Keep your valuables secure.
