How to Get to HYROX Beijing

Plane, Train and Car

By Plane

✈️ Nearest Airport: Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) is the main international airport and the closest one to the venue. It’s about 20-25 km (12-15 miles) from the China National Convention Center.

🚖 Getting to the Venue:

  • Taxi/Rideshare: You can easily get a taxi or use a rideshare app like Didi (DiDi Chuxing), which is China’s most popular rideshare service. The ride from PEK to the Convention Center usually takes about 30-50 minutes, but Beijing traffic can be very heavy, so it can take longer, especially during rush hour. Make sure you agree on the price with a taxi driver beforehand, or use the app for Didi. It’s also useful to have the venue’s name written in Chinese to show your driver!
  • Airport Express Train & Metro: This is the fastest and most reliable way. Take the Airport Express train from PEK to Sanyuanqiao Station. From there, transfer to Metro Line 10 and go to Beitucheng Station. Then, switch to Metro Line 8 and head towards the Olympic Green area. The Convention Center is a short walk from the Olympic Green (奥林匹克公园) or Forest Park South Gate (森林公园南门) stations, which are on Line 8. By Train

🚆 Nearest Train Station: Beijing has several major train stations, like Beijing South, Beijing West, and Beijing Railway Station. If you’re coming from another city in China, you’ll arrive at one of these. From any of these stations, you can easily connect to the Beijing Metro system to reach the Convention Center.

By Metro (Subway)

🚇 The Beijing Metro is a great way to get around the city – it’s fast, clean, and cheap! The China National Convention Center is very close to stations on Metro Line 8. Look for Olympic Green (奥林匹克公园) or Forest Park South Gate (森林公园南门) stations. The venue is a short walk from either of these. You can find maps and plan your journey on the official Beijing Subway website.

By Bus

🚌 Beijing has a huge bus network. Many bus routes stop near the China National Convention Center. However, using the bus can be a bit tricky if you don’t speak Chinese, and they often get stuck in traffic. The Metro is easier. If you want to try the bus, you’ll need a local mapping app that shows bus routes.

By Car

🚗 Navigation: Use a local map app like Baidu Maps (百度地图) or Gaode Maps (高德地图/Amap) to navigate. Google Maps might not work well in China without a VPN. Type in “China National Convention Center Phase II” or its Chinese name, “国家会议中心二期” (Guójiā Huìyì Zhōngxīn Èrqī).

🚙 Parking: The China National Convention Center usually has parking available, but it can get very crowded during big events. Arriving early is a good idea if you’re driving.

✔️ Check traffic before you leave: Beijing traffic is famous for being heavy. Use a local navigation app to see real-time traffic updates.

✔️ Get there really early: Give yourself at least 2-3 hours to travel, especially from the airport or across the city. Finding your way around the huge Convention Center, checking in for HYROX, and warming up will take time.

✔️ Stay nearby: If you can, find a hotel in the Chaoyang District or near the Olympic Green area. It will make getting to HYROX much easier.

✔️ Mobile Payment is King: WeChat Pay (微信支付) and Alipay (支付宝) are used everywhere in China – much more than cash or credit cards. It’s highly recommended to set up one of these if you’ll be there for a while. You can link international credit cards to them.

✔️ VPN is essential: Many international apps and websites (like Google, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp) are blocked in China. Download and install a VPN (Virtual Private Network) before you arrive if you want to access these.
