Bangkok – The City of Angels
Bangkok is a city that never slows down—full of dazzling temples, buzzing street markets, and some of the best food in the world. Here’s why you should check it out:
- Why “The City of Angels”? Bangkok’s full name in Thai is incredibly long, but it translates to “City of Angels” among other grand titles. It reflects the city’s deep spiritual roots, with its many golden temples and sacred sites.
- History: Explore the breathtaking Grand Palace, visit the giant Reclining Buddha at Wat Pho, or take a boat ride along the historic Chao Phraya River.
- Culture: Wander through the floating markets, experience the electric nightlife of Khao San Road, or shop ‘til you drop at the massive Chatuchak Market.
- Food: Feast on pad Thai, sip on fresh coconut water, or grab a plate of spicy papaya salad from a street vendor.

How to Get to HYROX Bangkok
Let’s figure out how to get you there!
By Plane
✈️ Nearest Airport: Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) is the main international airport serving Bangkok. It’s really close to BITEC, which is awesome! It’s only about 20-30 minutes away, depending on traffic.
🚖 Getting to the Venue:
- Taxi/Rideshare: You can easily grab a taxi or use ride-sharing apps like Grab (which is super common in Thailand) at the airport. This is probably the most convenient way to get to BITEC. Just remember, Bangkok traffic can be crazy and hectic, so the travel time can vary a lot. Always check the fare and make sure the taxi driver uses the meter (if it’s a regular taxi) or check the app for rideshares.
- Airport Rail Link & BTS Skytrain: This is a good option if you want to avoid traffic. Take the Airport Rail Link from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Phaya Thai station. Then, transfer to the BTS Skytrain (Sukhumvit Line) and get off at Bang Na station. BITEC is a short taxi or motorbike taxi (called a “motorbike taxi”) ride from Bang Na station.
By BTS Skytrain
🚇 Nearest BTS Station: Bang Na station is the closest BTS Skytrain station to BITEC. From there, you can take a short taxi or motorbike taxi to the venue.
By Taxi/Motorbike Taxi
🚕 Taxi: Taxis are everywhere in Bangkok. Just tell the driver “BITEC Bang Na” and show them the address.
🛵 Motorbike Taxi: Motorbike taxis are a fast and cheap way to get around, especially for short distances. They’re great for getting from Bang Na station to BITEC. Just be careful, and make sure you wear a helmet!
By Bus
🚌 Bangkok has a big bus network, but it can be a bit tricky to navigate. If you want to try taking a bus, you can use Google Maps or ask locals for help.
By Car
🚗 Navigation: Type “BITEC Bangkok” or “88 Debaratna Rd, Bang Na Tai, Bang Na, Bangkok 10260” into Google Maps, Waze, or Apple Maps.
Or you can just click the pre programmed route we’ve done for you below;
📌 Public Transport Resources:
- Airport Rail Link: The official website for the Airport Rail Link.
- BTS Skytrain: The official website for the BTS Skytrain.
- Grab: Download the Grab app on your phone. It’s the most popular ride-sharing app in Southeast Asia.
💡 Travel Tips:
✔️ Check traffic: Bangkok traffic is infamous for being bad. Use a navigation app or ask locals about traffic conditions before you leave. Give yourself plenty of time to get to BITEC, especially during rush hour.
✔️ Be prepared for heat and humidity: Bangkok is very hot and humid. Wear light clothing, drink plenty of water, and use sunscreen.
✔️ Learn a few Thai phrases: Knowing a few basic Thai phrases like “hello” (sawasdee), “thank you” (khop khun), and “how much?” (tao rai) will be helpful and appreciated.
✔️ Get there early: Give yourself at least 2-3 hours before your race starts to get to BITEC, find your way around the complex, check in, and warm up. Bangkok can be a busy and sometimes confusing city, so it’s always better to be early.
✔️ Stay nearby (if possible): If you can find a hotel or accommodation near BITEC in Bang Na, it will make getting to HYROX much easier.
✔️ Bargain (sometimes): Sometimes you can bargain with taxi drivers or motorbike taxi drivers, especially if they don’t use the meter. Just be polite and friendly.
✔️ Cash is king: While some places might accept cards, it’s always a good idea to have plenty of Thai Baht (THB) cash on hand. You’ll need it for taxis, motorbike taxis, street food, and small shops.
Disclaimer: Travel times and costs are estimates and may vary. Always refer to the official HYROX website and the websites of transportation providers for the most up-to-date information and to help plan your route.
